The Notre-Dame Basilica of the Garde in brief ...
When we arrive to Marseille, one sees only one thing: Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde.
This basilica built by Esperandieu is in the same style as Montmartre. There , one gets to the top to see the view or to light a candle. Originally, It was a lookout for the boats .It was fortified by François the first. The basilica is topped by a golden Virgin ; it is the Good Mother who protects sailors and pilgrims.
